My way of painting needed to change. I began to hate my art work because, instead of being creative, I had become a slave to the subject – which is not the same as the painting. All the world's beauty cannot be replicated on a page of paper – my pallet is only 12" x 16" and the world is wide!
Here are the new rules – • Let feelings be the guide, be 'in tune' instead of in control. • Change something, play and experiment. • Do not let subject or references dominate. • When reaching an impossible part – make it up! • Ask – is this just exciting and beautiful, or is it useful? Results – I work faster. That quivering, playful quality is back – I'm having fun again.

LIGHT
Light is my primary joy and source. I've been involved with art all my life, and have always loved to design and make things for my family, friends, and now clients. I love exuberant color, watching colors flowing together is amazing! Painting 'en Plein air' taught me to really see. First with oils and now using watercolors, drawing, painting and learning to make art keeps me busy. I am constantly hunting for inspiration. Professionally, I've designed beach towels, packaging, illustrated children's books, and made stained glass windows. Other interests are music (all kinds), photography, space/science, gardening and crafts – which currently includes knitting, frequently working from my own designs.
